owards the middle to end of 2024, our cross-engineers in the PLC & Robotics Competence Centre once again demonstrated their skills. In a challenging customer project, existing functionalities of a machine HMI were revised in C++ and specifically adapted to the customer's needs. This project was based on Siemens Sinumerik Operate and Qt, two of the leading technologies in industrial automation. In addition to adapting existing functions, the focus was on integrating new, innovative options. The aim was to significantly improve the user-friendliness and efficiency of the application.
The project was coordinated by Dominique, Competence Centre Manager for PLC & Robotics. The close cooperation between the customer and the team was crucial for the successful implementation. For our cross-INGenieur Sebastian, the project offered an ideal platform to grow in a dynamic and challenging environment. ‘Working in the Competence Centre and directly with the customer was a lot of fun and helped me develop enormously in this area,’ Sebastian summarised his experiences. Our cross-INGenieur Thomas also made a major contribution to the success of the project. He developed a Python script to analyse control data, optimised the structure of the messages and maintained the translations. For Thomas, this project was a great opportunity to gain his first experience in the CNC world. "It was exciting to immerse myself in this area and use my knowledge in a new way," said Thomas.
This project shows what sets our Competence Centres apart: technical expertise, customer-oriented work and the ability to deliver customised solutions. Our mission is to support companies on their path to increased efficiency and innovation. In collaboration with other experts in OPEX processes, handling automation and product industrialisation, cross-ING enables the gradual introduction of intelligent production environments - for future-proof, high-performance manufacturing.
